7 DAYS TO FAME NOMINATED
FOR GOLDEN CHAZZIE AWARD

PARAMUS, NJ – “7 Days to Fame,” the critically acclaimed comic book series about suicide on reality TV, has been nominated for a 2006 Golden Chazzie Award for Best Limited Series.

NeedCoffee.com is an award-winning pop culture and commentary site that nominated the After Hours Press 3-issue mini series by Buddy Scalera, Nick Diaz, Dennis Budd, and Joe Caramagna for a prestigious Chazzie Award.

“The whole creative team is honored to even be nominated for a Chazzie,” says Buddy Scalera, writer and president of After Hours Press. “We really appreciate that Widgett and the whole gang at NeedCoffee.com took the time to read our comics.”

In the comic, “7 Days to Fame” is the program where people appear on a webcast for six days to discuss their life, loves, education, career, and unfulfilled dreams. And on the seventh day, they kill themselves in the most creative way possible. The show becomes the next cultural phenomenon. It kicks up a media frenzy of supporters, as well as people who want to pull it off the Internet.

Here’s what reviewers have written about 7 Days to Fame:

“I loved this story for what it was trying to say, and what it said to me. You won’t find spandex or super-powers in this one, just strong storytelling, some really innovative concepts, and a book that brings up some really intelligent questions. Highly recommended.” -Ain’t It Cool News

“Scalera isn’t offering us any easy judgments (yet), but he is offering something far more thought-provoking than the sensationalistic covers suggest.” -Fanboy Planet

“Scalera and penciler Dennis Budd provide a solidly satisfying conclusion to their edge-of-your-seat and edgy-without-being-sensationalistic story. The actions of the characters are believable. It earns the full five Tonys.” -Tony Isabella

“Scalera and Diaz have produced a comic that tackles a very serious issue and simultaneously proves an entertaining read, and we could all use more of that in comics.” -Comic Critique

“Their fictional story has more humanity and honesty than any episode of The Real World ever could.” -Pop Matters

“Honestly… this is a good, good comic.” -Comic World News

“Scalera’s writing is far more gentle and natural than I would have imagined.” -Critiques on Infinite Earths

“An excellent first issue to what looks to be a great limited series. I’m going to go ahead and give this issue an A.” -Newsarama

“The book is very effective.” -Snap Judgments

“Regardless, the appalling notion of whether suicide could become socially acceptable entertainment is, sadly, well worth considering, and it’s handled here with intelligence, sensitivity and plenty of psychological horror.” -Rue Morgue

“All in all, 7 Days to Fame is a noteworthy effort that suggests both Scalera and Budd are talents to keep an eye on.” -Buzzscope

After Hours Press is a small New Jersey- based comic book publisher co-created by Buddy Scalera, Darren Sanchez, and Chris Eliopoulos. Projects have included Necrotic: Dead Flesh on a Living Body, Celestial Alliance, Impossible Tales, Model Operandi, and more.
